Synthesizing Nanoporous Stainless Steel Films via Vacuum Thermal Dealloying

نویسندگان

چکیده

Vacuum thermal dealloying is a recently developed technique and was newly introduced to produce nanoporous metals, due its intriguing advantages, i.e., preventing oxidation producing no chemical waste, etc. Here, we report on the fabrication of stainless steel films by vacuum sputtered steel–magnesium precursor films. It found that crack-free can be successfully attained under broad temperature range 450–600 °C, with time 0.5–2 h. The resulting structure ligaments were temperature- time-dependent, moreover, condition “600 °C + 2 h” generated most homogeneous structure. Moreover, small amounts residual Mg at pore sites in resultant structures, suggesting not fully complete.

Monolithic nanoporous copper by dealloying Mn–Cu

Monolithic nanoporous copper was synthesized by dealloying Mn0.7Cu0.3 by two distinct methods: potentiostatically driven dealloying and free corrosion. Both the ligament size and morphology were found to be highly dependent on the dealloying methods and conditions. For example, ligaments from 16 nm–125 nm were obtained by dealloying either electrochemically or by free corrosion, respectively. O...

A strategy for fabricating nanoporous gold films through chemical dealloying of electrochemically deposited Au-Sn alloys.

We report a novel strategy for the fabrication of nanoporous gold (NPG) films. The fabrication process involves the electrodeposition of a gold-tin alloy, followed by subsequent chemical dealloying of tin. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images show a bicontinuous nanoporous structure formed on the substrates after chemical dealloying. Energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) analysis indicates that th...

Ultrasonic Characterization of Austenitic Stainless Steel in Thermal Variations

This work focuses on the ultrasonic characterization and hardness of Austenitic stainless steel in thermal variation. The sample which was heat treated at 1050 o C has the highest hardness value and plays a dominant role in dispersion of carbides. Shear wave velocity and hardness show similar trend in variation with temperature. The effect of volume expansion would be to decrease the elastic co...

Stainless Steel Type 316Ti

Allegheny Ludlum Type 316Ti (UNS S31635) is a titanium stabilized version of Type 316 molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless steel. It is also known as DIN/EN designation No. 1.4571. The Type 316 alloys are more resistant to general corrosion and pitting/crevice corrosion than the conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels such as Type 304. They also offer higher creep, stress-ru...

Thermal Conductivity in Nanoporous Gold Films during Electron-Phonon Nonequilibrium

The reduction of nanodevices has given recent attention to nanoporous materials due to their structure and geometry. However, the thermophysical properties of these materials are relatively unknown. In this article, an expression for thermal conductivity of nanoporous structures is derived based on the assumption that the finite size of the ligaments leads to electron-ligament wall scattering. ...
